New Music From The Static Jacks
The Static Jacks hate partying, but like writing catchy songs.
The Static Jacks have no qualms with telling you they don’t like partying – but with catchy hooks like in “Parties And Friends (And Bullshit),” it’s obvious that putting their resources into songwriting and not into beer pong was probably a wise choice.
Listen to “Parties And Friends (And Bullshit)” below, and check out more info on The Static Jacks here. You can also download your own shiny new version of “Parties And Friends (And Bullshit)” here.

New Music From The Soft Pack
The Soft Pack Takes HEAVE down 'Mexico' way.
Could it be? A refreshing new band not based in Brooklyn? Hard to imagine, but irony and shabby hygiene can be a bi-coastal event too. You might remember The Soft Pack when they were called The Muslims. The ominous band name was changed after it was decided that tightening Middle America's colon wasn't important as making money.
The self-titled debut album from The Soft Pack promises to be one of my favorites of 2010 - and probably one of the more overlooked. Mostly because they sound like the whimsical spawns of a one-night stand with Jonathan Richman, and it's high time he got some form of validation.
Found deep within the album, "Mexico" is a lazy stroll of a song drenched in shores of reverb and "woe is me" lyrics. The Soft Pack will be available February 2nd via Kemado Records.

We've Got You Covered: Modest Mouse, Goldspot and 'Float On'
Goldspot takes on the Modest Mouse hit 'Float On.'
Modest Mouse front man Isaac Brock once told The Onion AV Club he wrote “Float On” because, “He wanted to feel happy for a day.” It’s hard to argue Brock’s point – as “Float On” is the happiest Modest Mouse song by a fairly substantial margin.
Goldspot is a Los Angeles based band that seems unnecessarily happy in their music. But why shouldn’t they? Goldspot has been featured on “How I Met Your Mother,” in an eBay ad and on the soundtrack for “Today’s Special.” Their cover “Float On” was featured in both an episode and one of the many soundtracks of The O.C. Take a listen to “Float On” below. Really, it makes the Modest Mouse version sound sort of, well, depressing.
