We've Got You Covered: Modest Mouse, Goldspot and 'Float On'
Goldspot takes on the Modest Mouse hit 'Float On.'
Modest Mouse front man Isaac Brock once told The Onion AV Club he wrote “Float On” because, “He wanted to feel happy for a day.” It’s hard to argue Brock’s point – as “Float On” is the happiest Modest Mouse song by a fairly substantial margin.
Goldspot is a Los Angeles based band that seems unnecessarily happy in their music. But why shouldn’t they? Goldspot has been featured on “How I Met Your Mother,” in an eBay ad and on the soundtrack for “Today’s Special.” Their cover “Float On” was featured in both an episode and one of the many soundtracks of The O.C. Take a listen to “Float On” below. Really, it makes the Modest Mouse version sound sort of, well, depressing.
