No one here knows what "100 Questions" is or was, but someone is dressing Sophie Winkleman damn well in it.
Have any of you ever even heard of this show? 100 Questions on NBC? Me neither! I found this article about it, though, and it pretty much reinforced my initial thoughts as I watched 2/3 of an episode. I was waiting for the Office to come on and it was just kind of sitting there, in the timeslot right before it, and I decided to give it a chance. I watched the rest of the episode and it was...eh...

We've Got You Covered: Jeffrey Lewis and Eminem
Jeffrey Lewis and Laura Marling cover Eminem's "Brain Damage."
Anti-folk is a weird, endearing genre. Sounding like the folk of the 1960’s, anti-folk does not talk about politics or war or really anything of relative importance – opting to cover topics like childhood to, essentially, mock the overall serious tone that folk entails.
Jeffrey Lewis is one of the more prominent anti-folk artists and has had such gems as “Back When I Was Four” and “If You Shoot The Head You Kill The Ghoul.” Lewis is also an artist and has his own comic book called “Fuff.”
Eminem could be the part of the genre anti-rap if it existed – as Eminem isn’t exactly a pillar of the seriousness that usually runs through the genre. Maybe that is why Jeffrey Lewis and Laura Marling decided to cover Eminem’s “Brain Damage.” Or maybe one day they were just bored. Either way, have a listen to “Brain Damage” below.

Nice to Meet You: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are trippy, hippy and lots of fun.
I realize many of you out there may already be somewhat familiar with this band; in about a year they have gone from relative obscurity to great popularity and appeared in two different primetime television commercials. Some may call sellout on this one, but with songs that catchy, who could resist a little paid airtime?
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are a bit difficult to write about because they’re not like most bands...

Nice to Meet You: Sam Quinn and Japan Ten
Big beards, sad songs and country twang from Sam Quinn
Formerly one of the frontmen of Tennessee country folk band, the Everybodyfields, Sam Quinn’s latest project, Sam Quinn and Japan Ten, will have your feet tapping and heart wrenching with their debut album, the fake that sunk a thousand ships. Where the Everybodyfields was more of a collaboration between Sam Quinn and Jill Andrews, bringing out soulful harmonies, hybrid Americana tunes, and superb songwriting, after their split, Sam Quinn has been able to stretch his wings and do as he pleases.
Quinn’s new project includes fellow former everybodyfielder, Josh Oliver on guitar and keyboard. The Japan Ten also includes Megan Gregory and Brandon Story. While the music hasn’t changed a great deal from the days of the Everybodyfields; full of lonliness, heart pain, and Americana bliss. Quinn’s unique and natural vocals have a way of lending themselves to his unique blend of classic Americana and indie folk.
Be sure to check out Quinn’s latest album which cam out May 11th on Ramseur record and take a listen below.

Nice To Meet You: Preservation Hall Jazz Band
Not anything new, but Preservation Hall Jazz Band is worth a listen
Now for those of you in the “know,” you may be asking, “Andrew, why are you telling us we should take a listen to a band that’s been around since the 60’s?” Well I’ll tell you – it’s because they’re still relevant, still masters of their craft, and still making good music; not to mention they’re the unrivaled sound of New Orleans Jazz...
