We've Got You Covered: Jeffrey Lewis and Eminem
Jeffrey Lewis and Laura Marling cover Eminem's "Brain Damage."
Anti-folk is a weird, endearing genre. Sounding like the folk of the 1960’s, anti-folk does not talk about politics or war or really anything of relative importance – opting to cover topics like childhood to, essentially, mock the overall serious tone that folk entails.
Jeffrey Lewis is one of the more prominent anti-folk artists and has had such gems as “Back When I Was Four” and “If You Shoot The Head You Kill The Ghoul.” Lewis is also an artist and has his own comic book called “Fuff.”
Eminem could be the part of the genre anti-rap if it existed – as Eminem isn’t exactly a pillar of the seriousness that usually runs through the genre. Maybe that is why Jeffrey Lewis and Laura Marling decided to cover Eminem’s “Brain Damage.” Or maybe one day they were just bored. Either way, have a listen to “Brain Damage” below.
