Junip Offers New 'Rope And Summit' EP For Free

José González's new band release new EP online, plan June tour

José González captured my attention a couple of years ago with his cover of "Love Will Tear Us Apart."  His voice offered that same stark vunerability that Ian Curtis once had, but also had this timid quality to it.  In his new project Junip, González is anything but timid and switches from solo artists to band member in one big jump.  Junip is González's new three piece project with two fellow Swedes accompanying him on keyboards and drums.  Their new EP Rope and Summit is due out on May 25, but you can get a sneak peak of it now on their official site.  The band is a familiar but new direction for González, as Junip takes a more diverse approach to their music.  Tracks like "At the Doors" are full-on psychedelic jams where the title track "Rope and Summit" is a slow gallop into some sweet Moog parts.  You can download Junip's new EP for free now via the band's official mailing list, and take a listen to "Rope and Summit" below.  Junip will embark on a small US tour in June to promote the release of the band's first full-lenth album FieldsFields is due out September 14 on Mute Records.
