Kid Cudi Offers A Visual Trip Back To ‘Pursuit of Happiness’
Kid Cudi delivers promised alternative video for ‘Pursuit,’ and the inaccurately titled ‘I Do My Thing’ leaks.
Kid Cudi’s first video for the MGMT and Ratatat collaboration ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ off of one of our favorite albums of 2009, Man on the Moon: The End of the Day, your eyeballs can now view a fresh take on the track, as Cudi’s promised second video has emerged. The new music video provides a trippier take on the song. Certainly a bit more interpretation and experimentation was done in this version. Director Megaforce creates a more accurate rendition holding true to the lyrics and scope of the album, Cudi drops in and out of reality and often finds himself right back where he started. Feel free to watch both to compare and contrast, but many will agree that this version of the video is the one that should have been. At least we have it now. Check it out below:
To pair with the video, a day before Cudi’s alternate video hit, a cut song from Man on the Moon leaked featuring Snoop Dogg. Cudi’s explains the whole thing on his blog, mentioning the fact that the track will be available on his sophomore album entitled Cudder: The Evolution of Revolution. There is no release date available for the album. Although Cudi denounces that Internet chosen title, the song’s name is being toted around as ‘I Do My Thing.’ Either way its beat brings a cool, mildly thumping but still atmospheric escape for Cudi’s lyrics describing the lifestyle he chooses to live. It’s just a life of smoking, drinking and doing your own thing. You can listen to the track below.
How’s that for a few juicy Cudi audio-visual nuggets?
UPDATE: The alternate video for "Pursuit of Happiness" was taken down on YouTube, but you can still watch it here.
