We've Got You Covered: Run Toto Run and Passion Pit
Run Toto Run take Passion Pit's 'Sleepyhead' and, well, make it sleepier.
I don’t really know much about Run Toto Run. I know they are from Manchester, found popularity in the UK pretty quickly after their formation and, if searched for on Myspace, can make you come across a lady with the same username who is quite creepy about her fondness for dogs. They are also fans of the song “Sleepyhead” by Passion Pit.
Passion Pit’s Manners is going to be at the top of a lot of people’s lists for “best record of 2009,” and Passion Pit, who was considered merely a buzz band in 2008 (thanks mostly to “Sleepyhead”), is now a band that looks like they will be around for quite a while. And with staying power comes other bands covering your music. Run Toto Run decided to take the dance your pants off “Sleepyhead” and make it sound lullaby-like (which makes sense for a title like "Sleepyhead"). The violin reminds me of something you’d hear at a renaissance fair – not like I’ve ever attended one or anything, though.
