The British Are Coming

The Cure , Ting Tings, and new music from Johnny Flynn.

Starting this month, the Cure will release a new single on the 13th of each month leading up to the release of their 13th studio album on Sept 13.  Very clever of that Robert Smith, eh?  Let's hope he doesn't jinx the success of what is sure to be an interesting double album, featuring the return of seminal guitarist Porl Thompson.  Keep your ears open for first single "The Only One."

A heavenly choir of angels sang in praise and joy as the UK's favorite junkie wreck was released from prison yesterday.  Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty was released from the Wormwood Scrubs Prison after serving 29 days of a 14 week sentence.  While inside, Pete kept a diary of his stay as well as a collection of fan letters and postcards.  Doherty said, "I feel great, I've walked out and I don't feel like I want to score.  I feel like I want to go for a nice walk in the park instead."

Fellow former Libertine Carl Barat's Dirty Pretty Things are planning a summer release for the follow to 2006's Waterloo To Anywhere.  "Tired Of England" will be the first single lifted from This Is Where The Truth Begins.

Manchester boy/girl duo The Ting Tings are the latest act to be snatched up for an iPod commercial.  You may have heard the track "Shut Up and Let Me Go." Sounds drastically similar to the CSS tune, but hey, whatever sells.  Debut album We Started Nothing will be available May 20.

Here they are! The first slew of North American dates starring My Bloody Valentine are now revealed.  Tickets should go fast as young and old prepare to blow their minds.

Johnny Flynn is a fresh faced singer/song writer from South London who blends folk and country with a witty sense of wordplay.  His band, The Sussex Wit, provides a toe tapping back drop reminiscent of your parent's favorite Alliota, Haines and Jeremiah jam.  Signed to Rough Trade in the UK, Flynn's US debut, A Larum, will be made available stateside courtesy of Lost Highway records July 29.  Here's a stunning little number from A Larum called "Tickle Me Pink."
