News for Now
One of my favorite bands goes on tour, Battles loses their psuedo-lead singer, and I beg for money to fund my dreams of cruising on the high seas with Vivian Girls.
I can't stop listening to Expo 86, Wolf Parade's latest album. I'm not complaining by any means--it's not like I can't stop listening to "Party in the USA" or something shamefully delicious like that. Nope, I'm just having a hard time moving away from a fantastic album. While news of Wolf Parade going on tour is by no means shocking, it still made my heart sing to see that dates had been announced. They'll be in the U.S. from November 3 to November 24, and will make stops in Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta and Orlando. One question, though--WHERE IS YOUR WEST COAST LOVE, BOYS?
Speaking of great albums, can we talk about how epic Mirrored--Battles' 2007 debut--is? Unfortunately, the band's not going to be quite the same for their second album. Tyondai Braxton, who basically acted as the frontman, has decided to leave the band. Braxton is currently pursuing solo work, and found that his solo ambitions conflicted with the band's studio time and desire to go on tour in 2011. Best of luck to Braxton, but he'll certainly be missed from that line-up.
I think the idea of a booze cruise is fantastic, but a Bruise Cruise Festival totally tops that. Check it: from February 25 to the 28, you could be heading from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas with the Black Lips, Vivian Girls, Turbo Fruits, and someone named Miss Pussycat. And on top of all that, you still get to do cruise-y things, like hook up with strangers and eat breakfast at assigned tables. So cool!
Finally, if you're at Lollapalooza this weekend, stay safe! Sorry, I'm like a lame mom when it comes to festival well-wishes.
