Business Casual Superstar
The thing I like most about Annie Hall is that it reminds me of a time in which Diane Keaton didn't annoy the shit out of me.
Yay! I love putting together Annie Hall outfits! The first ensemble was put together as a response to a request from a young associate wondering what to wear to her firm's Halloween party. It was a lot of fun, and since none of you nerds ever email me with character suggestions (I don't have this problem at the other blogs I contribute to! Shame, shame!), I figured I'd revisit this great Woody Allen character, played by Diane Keaton.
You guys remember Annie Hall. If you don't, here's a refresher:
Now, I'm not going full-on Annie Hall today, otherwise you'd see a cute little vest and a tie and all that. No, today I came up with a slightly more feminine take on Annie Hall's style.
Annie liked her neutrals and whites, which is fortunate because BOTH colors are really big this summer...especially when worn together! So here's a cute, summery look that offers a take on this (arguably) iconic character.
Charleston Stretch Twill Trousers .......... $9.99 Vee Neck Slub Tee in White .......... $24.50 Drawstring Knit Cardigan .......... $24.80 Christa Pumps .......... $34.99 Romantic Vintage Style Heart Key Necklace .......... $4.99
See what I mean? A far more feminine take on Annie Hall. I even resisted the urge to find some oxford pumps or saddle shoes! Aren't you guys proud of me? I know you are. All three of you.
I picked a pair of khaki-colored trousers, not altogether unlike the ones Annie often wore in the movie. Only these are less menswear-inspired and offer a more flattering boot cut fit.
I paired the pants with a comfortable white slub tee from the Limited, which has been offering a great selection of work appropriate clothes lately. Over that goes this lightweight grey cardigan with the bow tie. I went with this as an alternative to Annie's neck ties. And finally, I finished off the look with a pair of Anne Klein nude pumps. Well, I'm sure they're 'nude' for a lot of you. Not for me, though.
And there we have a polished, feminine take on Annie Hall's menswear-inspired style! Check in next week for whatever random character pops into my head. I don't know.
