Aloha was doing the scattered band thing long before Postal Service was around. Sprinkled throughout the United States, Aloha has crafted a sound that draws from classic rock, yet shows us the future of where modern rock may be headed. Vibraphonial equipped, Aloha has paid their fair share of postage (and more than a fair share of air fare) and released Light Works, a seven song delight that is nothing short of heavy on goodness.

Light Works is nothing new or exceptionally different for Aloha, as their sound has remained relatively linear for the past several years. The vibraphone is present, the voice is mellow and Cale Parks continues to prove he is a pioneer on the drums. An added emphasis on an acoustic guitar gives the album a softer sound than we previously heard on their previous two releases, Here Comes Everyone and Some Echoes.

The best track on Light Works is probably "Body Buzz," but "Trick Spring" and "Passengers" are equally as good - the other four tracks are just as solid. Aloha continues to be one of the more underrated bands in today's music scene.
