Seeing The Flaming Lips live isn't a rock show, it's a visceral experience. Just like visiting Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, or the Jack Daniels Distillery; everyone should go at least once. From the looks of it, people seemed to have a quite enjoyable time. While I didn't have an unpleasant time, I did hate the often bass heavy sound of the Aragon. I wouldn't have noticed the sound as much if Wayne Coyne wasn't talking between every song for about two minutes or so. He literally talked between every song. Although I believe everyone is entitled to their own political opinions, I wasn't going to let myself be influenced about our nation's foreign policies at a Flaming Lips show. Of course I don't agree with many of the moves of our current president, but I was at the Aragon on Friday night to hear songs from The Soft Bulletin, not to partake in a political rally. Politics aside, the night included a spaceship looking light rig, Wayne emerging from said rig in a bubble, confetti, smoke and tons of laser pointers. That's right, laser pointers. Many patrons were given small laser pointers before the show. Eventually, Wayne pulled out a circular mirror and instructed the crowd to shoot at the mirror. I must say it was pretty sweet. The beams reflected in all directions through the smoke.

Overall, the show was well worth seeing. The 30 dollar price was a bit steep, but what are you going to do? Music = 4 out of 5 stars; Banter = 2 out of 5 stars.
