Artist Opinion: Judah Dadone of the Freelance Whales

Judah Dadone of the Freelance Whales gives us his top albums of the decade.

Joanna Newsom – YS - The most lyrically ambitious record of the decade is Joanna Newsom's YS, whose elaborate meter would have made the bard himself (Which bard? Any bard!) blush and start looking for exit signs.  The five songs on the record play like mini-epic poems that feel ancient, rural, seasonal and traditional...

In Remembrance: The Receiving End Of Sirens

Once loud for all to hear, they have since quietly extinguished.

Straight out of Boston, this week we have post-hardcore troupe, The Receiving End of Sirens.  Formed in 2003 after the demise of several less successful New England bands, The Receiving End of Sirens started to gain a small following after some localized touring and the release of two short demos...

Girls Are Rad: Ora Cogan

New Music From Get Well Soon

Get Well Soon delivers 'Angry Young Man.' Vexations out in January.

Finally a new and exciting reason to dig on some Kraut rock!  I mean they're no Rammstein, but who is?  Get Well Soon is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Konstantin Gropper. He doesn't exude any nationalistic pride nor does he set himself on fire at concerts, but please don't hold that against him.

What Get Well Soon dose well is weave the melancholy of Leonard Cohen and the imagery of Nick Cave into a rather wholesome pop noise. The latest single, “Angry Young Man,” is a grand undertaking and will keep you satisfied until the next Arcade Fire album comes out.

Get Well Soon's new album, Vexations, will be available via NUDE Records January 2010.
