New Music From Lower Dens

Lower Dens give us a taste of new album - set tour dates.

You never know what you will get when a predominately solo artist start writing with a collective group – but the pairing worked for Jana Hunter and Lower Dens. Hunter mostly made what people would aptly classify as weird-fi with a haunting sound, but Lower Dens fit snugly into drone pop or post punk. The band officially formed in 2009, and is set to release Twin-Hand Movement on July 20. Catch them on tour with the dates below and have a listen to “Tea Lights.”

El-P Leaks New Track From Central Services

El-P releases single featuring the late Camu Tao

El-P has leaked a new song from his project Central Services, which was fronted by himself and the late Camu Tao.  "What God Should Do" is a powerful track with two agressive men on the mike, spitting rhymes about cops busting down your door and crazy yet sexy women.  Central Servies was a project between El-P and Camu Tao in late 2005 that was never released.  Now with Camu Tao's posthumous release King of Hearts coming up, El-P is releasing the duo's EP Forever Frozen in Television Time in conjuction King of Hearts.  You can download "What God Should Do" through El-P's Bandcamp page.  Camu Tao's King of Hearts comes out on August 3 on Def Jux/Fat Possum.

New Music From Doppelganger

Doppelganger brings us 'Breaks My Head' off of debut EP.

I find myself having a little bit more respect for a band that uses their drummer as their lead singer. Therefore, Doppelganger has my respect. They would have it, anyway, as they are currently making some of the best hooks in rock today. Their debut EP Get Over It Already is gaining critical momentum as Doppelganger finds themselves nestled quite nicely in the shoegaze meets surfer rock meets punk genre. Who are they Doppelganging? I don’t know – but I like it. Have a listen to “Breaks My Head” below.

Juliette Commagere is getting ready to release her second solo album The Procession later this year and just released her first single off the album “Impact.” Commagere jumped into the spotlight as the keytar player in Hello Stranger before branching out to a solo career. Her solo debut Queens Die Proudly garnered critical attention and solidified her place as a solo artist in the bustling LA music world. “Impact” sports Commagere's signature instrumental pop music combined with the sweet rhythms of tropical music, a different vibe that the tracks offered on Queens Die Proudly.
