Prince Rama Prepare For Fall Tour With Deakin
Prince Rama to tour with Animal Collective's Deakin
The members of Prince Rama aren’t what you call conventional musicians. Raised on a Hare Krishna commune, schooled in Boston, and now playing in Brooklyn this trio isn’t what you would call the norm of the music industry. However their odd style that sounds like a 60s horror film score filled with heavy percussion quickly captured the attention of Avey Tare and Deakin of Animal Collective, who produced their new album Shadow Temple. In accordance with the band’s strange start their new album was recorded in two of the oddest places one could record an album – Kurt Vonnegut’s grandson’s cabin and a 135-year-old haunted church. Weird music and weird places go together like peanut butter and Nutella and in Prince Rama’s case make for a great new album. Shadow Temple is due out September 14 on Paw Tracks. Prince Rama hits the road next week, joining up with Deakin for most of their tour dates.
