Pimp C’s ‘The Naked Soul’ Will Finally See The Light Of Day
Bun B spearheads the posthumous album in the name of UGK
The last solo album Pimp C launched while still living hit July 25, 2006. That was four years ago. 2008 a greatest hits album saw the light of day. Now, originally announced for the summer of 2007, Pimp C’s The Naked Soul shall be unearthed for fans, coming to a record shop near you September 21, 2010. Thankfully, this project rests in the hands of someone who can make it happen, Bun B. No doubt with Bun on the front lines making the decision, there should be no way this will simply be cutting room floor crap.
The story goes that there were plenty of vocal material for a full length LP as Bun B discussed in an XXL magazine interview last year. “We had enough vocals [for the album], but it wasn’t just about taking whatever vocals I had available,” Bun B said. “It was about constructing songs. It wasn’t about just throwing all the Pimp C I had out there. I had to really try to make an album.”
With those words, it seems that Bun B has been busy, busy in the last year working on Pimp’s album in addition to his own solo album Trill O.G. So it seems we’ll see some Bun B August 3rd in his third solo album and then Pimp C in September. This makes for a very UGK end of summer and beginning of fall. We’re teeming with excitement to hear some singles from Pimp’s Naked Soul, expect to hear some trickles from the album this summer. For Bun B’s Trill O.G. singles, you can hop over to Bun’s myspace for music featuring T-Payne, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti and Young Jeezy from the album.
Seems like there will be plenty of Texas tea to keep you cool this summer, until we can hear something from Pimp C’s posthumous album due this September, remember to keep it poppin’ it for Pimp.
