Josh Homme's Rekords Rekords Partners With Dangerbird Records

QOTSA's Josh Homme starts partnership with Dangerbird Records to release new music

Josh Homme is a powerhouse of music. Starting in Kyuss, then branching off into Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Them Crooked Vultures, and creating the collective known as the Desert Sessions, the man does not stop producing great rock music. Homme created his own company Rekord Rekords to gather together this creative hub under one name. And now he's ready to partner with Dangerbird Records to continue his work on releasing and writing music.

"I have a true partner in Dangerbird for the U.S,” said Homme in a press release about the partnership. “The reason I went there in the first place was because they're about getting things done—'nuff said. There's no reason to wait or belabor the point about releasing records. This is the time to focus on the consistency of your art. Rekords Rekords is really more of a stamp in the hopes to try to be like Wolfman Jack. People listened to Wolfman Jack because they liked his taste but he was playing all different kinds of music. I hope to develop a similar trust with fans of the music. If people like one of our releases, they'll like the next one sight unseen."

Rekord Rekords and Dangerbird have a couple of releases on the horizon since their partnership. Alain Johannes, founder of the band Eleven and cohort of Homme, is preparing his solo debut Spark for August 31. A tribute to his late wife and fellow musician Natasha Shneider, Spark offers a softer side to the Rekord Rekords collective. "The rollercoaster of Spark's very fragile beauty is the reason I started playing music,” says Homme about Johannes's album. “There are some things that can't be explained with words. I like to ask, 'Can someone play it to me instead?' This record is such a great example of what cannot be said but what is so true." Queens of the Stone Age bassist Mikey Shuman will also be releasing a new album under Mini Mansions under the new Rekord Rekords/Dangerbird label. Homme plans on releasing new material from the Desert Sessions and Eagles of Death Metal, and plans on re-releasing the Desert Sessions volume 1-10 in a neat box set through Dangerbird. Expect lots of well-made and exciting rock music to be headed your way very soon.
