Business Casual Superstar
You do your thang, Alyson Hannigan as Lily Aldrin.
Last week, I put together an outfit inspired by newscaster Robin Scherbatsky from "How I Met Your Mother," an absolutely delightful CBS sitcom also starring Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Segal. This week I'm back with a look inspired by Robin's friend, Lily Aldrin, who's married to Marshall Erikson, quite possibly my favorite TV law-student-then-lawyer, played by Jason Segal.
Lily is a kindergarten teacher, and absolutely insane. She's manipulative and shrill and silly and delightful, and her fashion sense reflects this. Lily loves to layer different patterns and textures and styles: plaids, stripes, ruffles, denim - and that's just one outfit! When she's wearing dresses, as she often does for the classroom, they are printed and colorful, perfectly suited for a bright and bubbly kindergarten teacher.
Here's something Lily might wear to her classroom:
Splatter Peasant Dress .......... $38.35 Pointelle Shrug in Black .......... $21.99 Miss Me Pumps in Black .......... $23.18 Aqua Flower Necklace .......... $8.99
The dress is pretty busy and bright, with that cute splatter pattern, nipped in empire waist, and nice drape. I added a pair of black peep toe pumps, since Lily usually reserves her knee-high leather boots for outside the classroom, and threw in a pretty blue flower necklace because her jewelry is usually pretty colorful and makes a statement.
I'll be back next week with another Lily-Aldrin-inspired ensemble, just for fun, and because you nerds don't email me with requests for these things, and I don't watch that much TV that's live-action.
Live-action is over-rated; crude cartoons are where it's at, yo.
