Nice to Meet You: Henri Faberge and The Adorables
A taste of gut-wrenching, vagabond soul music from Henri Faberge and The Adorables
It’s time to talk collectives here at HEAVE; sure we all have our favorites, Elephant 6, Animal Collective, Bomb the Music Industry, hell, even Wu-Tang, but now Toronto brings you the newest troupe of ne’er-do-wells, Henri Faberge and The Adorables. Featuring members of Born Ruffians, Woodhands, The Bicycles, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Spitfires & Mayflowers, and The Meligrove Band, the group is led by their heroic leader, Henri Faberge (otherwise known as Henry Fletcher), and his group of misfits known only as The Adorables.
With everything from a Rhodes piano and a horns section, to a Theremin and group chanting, originality is one thing this group does not lack. Spewing forth frenzied soul mixed with a fair amount of sauntering folk-pop, Henri Faberge and The Adorables possess quite a sound to behold. Formed in 2005, the group released their debut, self-titled album in 2006. The group also had a residency at a venue called The Embassy, where they performed monthly. From what I can gather, these shows sounded so be some of the craziest events going down north of the border (lets just say there was lots of stripping, oh and uh, Jello wrestling, let’s not forget Jello wrestling).
It appears the collective’s members have since returned to their original bands, leaving Henri Faberge and The Adorables to become part of the past since late 2007. Be sure not to miss some of the delightfully fun songs off their 2006 debut, included below.
