Foals to Release 'Total Life Forever' This Summer
Foals release their second album on Sub Pop Records later this year
In 2008, a little band from the UK named Foals released their first studio album Antidotes on Sub Pop Records. No one could have anticipated that Antidotes would have been the success that it had, breaking away from the now common retro guitars of the American scene and offering audiences something completely new. Foals impressed critics with Antidotes and now seek to go for the gold twice with their newest release Total Life Forever, due out on Sub Pop Records this summer. “I feel like I’m wearing less masks with my lyrics now,” said 23-year-old frontman and guitarist Yannis Philippakis in a press release announcing Total Life Forever. “Before I felt secure behind cryptic images–I liked stuff that didn’t show me to myself, but on this record I tried to express things with more truth.” The band shows a different side of their songwriting and style on Total Life Forever, stripping their sound to bare bones and piecing together a new version of Foals. If you liked Antidotes get ready to experience a more emotional, more surprising sound on Total Life Forever.
Foals continues their European tour, including dates at the Reading Festival in the UK and the Melt Festival in Germany this summer. Total Life Forever comes out May 11th digitally and June 15th on CD and double-LP.
