Nice To Meet You: Bears
Bears deliver a grizzly, gnarled taste of Ohioan pop.
What began in the summer of 2005 as a musical project in Cleveland between Charlie Mcarthur and Craig Ramsey soon blossomed into a bustling band. Less than a year after their feeble begins, the duo released their debut self-titled album in April. The pair received praise from some of the industries more illustrious names concerning this early release and the release of their 2007 EP, Shortest Day of the Year.
2007 was a big year for Bears. After receiving positive press from everyone from SPIN to AP, they were featured on an Urban Outfitters compilation cd and appeared in Alternative Press’ “100 Bands to watch in 2008” list. They also expanded the size of the band to six for their live show. In 2008, the band released their sophomore album, Simple Machinery, and like their first album, it too was self-released.
In 2009, Bears released a 7” single called Snowman. You can check out more likeminded music from The Golden Rule, Charlie’s side-project and Craig Ramsey & the Nice People, which obviously employs a great deal of Craig Ramsey.
