Nice to Meet You: Canon Blue

Canon Blue is bringing good vibes from across the Atlantic.

For the past few weeks, Nashville native and Copenhagen convert Daniel James aka Canon Blue has been traversing Northern Europe recording his new, tentatively named album, Rumspringa.  The Tennessean, who worked with Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor and electronic mastermind, Christian Vogel on his debut record is now in the studio with label owners, Efterklang, and fellow Copenhagen-based band, Slaraffenland, as well as the Icelandic experimental/ambient group Amiina.

Canon Blue’s music, which is a cross between folk-infused electronic music, and the ambient musings of ghostly spirits in an orchestral hall, is profound and relaxing.  James’ voice is somewhat reminiscent of late, post-hardcore band, Brazil’s vocals, which mysteriously fits seamlessly in two vastly different settings.  With songs full of keys, brass, strings, gongs, synths, and nearly every kind of instrument imaginable, Canon Blue has a little something for everyone.

Canon Blue’s Myspace blog is a pretty up to date log of his activities.  His Flickr also documents some of his noteworthy travels.

Check out these tracks off of his latest EP, Halcyon, which can be downloaded for free from his MySpace.
