New Music from CyHi Da Prynce

Kanye opens doors for Georgia rapper through blog post.

We’ve heard rappers claim to be the best rapper alive before (every rapper?) and CyHi Da Prynce gives in to such a seemingly prerequisite-to-dropping-a-verse statement. However, Kanye West’s recent endorsement of the Georgia MC referencing CyHi’s “Studda & I’m a 100” video has turned a lot of ears to his work. A day following Yeezy’s post, CyHi practiced good marketing and dropped The Prynce of Jacks in response to all the newfound hype. CyHi might not be the best rapper alive, after all, Lil’ Wayne decided to claim that title with an entire song years ago, but CyHi certainly proves he’s on the up and up with his new tape.

Produced in cahoots with DJs Green Lantern, Infamous, and Greg Street with label Def Jam Konvict, The Prynce of Jacks consists of a variety of samples current and classic alike. From recent beats from Clipse’s  “Popular Demand” or Snoop Dogg’s “I Wanna Rock” to classics from Lupe Fiasco’s “Kick, Push” or Nas’s “Dead Presidents” CyHi has a proper foundation to drop his verses. Although someone in production made the odd choice of leaving versus from the original songs in the many of the tapes tracks, the final project is left largely unaffected. I guess CyHi takes piggybacking bigger artists a step further before he’s ready to stand on his alone.

Before The Prynce of Jacks, CyHi can be best know for “Sweet Georgia,” a track about his upbringing to the tune of an acoustic guitar. CyHi can more recently be heard on YelaWolf’s thumping track “I Wish” with fellow Georgia artist Pill. We hope CyHi thanks Yeezy for putting this up-and-comer on our radar.
