MGMT Set to Release New Album in April

MGMT to release Congratulations on Columbia Records

It's safe to say that people know who MGMT are. From the hype that they've received from the music community to their singles scattered across Hollywood soundtracks, it was hard to escape the Brooklyn duo. Now following the success of their 2008 release Oracular Spectacular MGMT is back with Congratulations. Andrew Vanwyngarden and Ben Goldwasser worked with Sonic Boom, more commonly known as Peter Kember, to produce their new album. The two met Sonic Boom at a Spectrum concert, one of Kember's many side projects, and after jamming on stage to Spectrum's hit “Suicide” it was clear that the threesome would quickly become a team. The nine-song album features Vanwyngarden and Goldwasser on lead vocals and instruments and MGMT's touring as the album's backing band. Judging on the people who contributed to Congratulations, such as Kember and Royal Trux front-woman Jennifer Herrema, MGMT's new release is bound to offer more of their psychedelic and complicated pop sound.

Congratulations will be released on Columbia Records on April 13th. MGMT is playing Coachella April 17th and the Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey May 2nd.
