Daryl Hall and Chromeo Team Up For Bonnaroo
Hall and Chromeo plan to play the hits of Hall & Oates at Bonnaroo
Bonnaroo announced their initial line-up for this year's festival and as usual there were some oddities in the bunch (Dave Matthews Band? Really?). But none seemed more odd than the edition of Daryl Hall and Chromeo. Many music listeners may know Daryl Hall as the man next to the mustache in Hall & Oates. How did Hall get with Dave 1 and P-Thugg from Chromeo? Simple – the internet. Hall has his own internet video series called “Live From Daryl's House” where he invites artists that have sampled or are inspired by his musical endeavors. The way that it sounds you'd think that this whole thing would be a huge joke, however each episode is very well done and Hall spares no expense making each video. Chromeo joined Hall at his house in 2008 after their release Fancy Footwork and played songs from Hall's discography and their own with a full backing band. And it's pretty damn good. Chromeo's addition to the Hall & Oates hit “Family Man” makes the song into a whole different monster of pop, and even Hall adds something special to Chromeo's song “Waiting For You.”
Hall, Dave 1 and P-Thugg are bringing this special set to Bonnaroo on June 11th, playing the hits of Hall & Oates and Chromeo. To get a preview of what the show might be like, you can watch the Chromeo's appearance on “Live From Daryl's House” here. Tickets for Bonnarroo are now on sale on their website. Chromeo's new album is set to release August 2010. In the meantime you can check out their new single “Night By Night” and dream about them singing “Adult Education” with Daryl Hall.
