T.I. Drops New Mixtape; Video

T.I. is behind bars, but that doesn't mean you can't make new stuff.

It seems that T.I. is feeling like everyone has forgot who the greatest rapper in the South was since he went to prison. How long ago was that? Oh right, at the end of May. The man has only served slightly over a month of a year term and is already feeling forgotten. Whew! That’s a long time!

But seriously, I’ll cut to the shit, new music is new music, and prisoner 59458-019 has some for the world. T.I. brings the world a brand new (well, almost) mixtape and a video. This comes after about five or so of the tracks on the tape already leaked.

The mixtape, entitled TIP Drill goes 19 tracks deep and is just over one hour in length. Those helping our short king of the South with some tracks are Scarface, Trick Daddy, Keri Hilson, Mary J. Blige and Robin Thicke. Mary J. also helps with the video for “Remember Me.” The video is pretty boring and focuses on making sure nobody forgets T.I. (of course). Perhaps the best part of the video is T.I. proclaiming that he may be half way home by the time you hear the track. In reality, it is more like nine months, but who’s counting?

The tape is worth a listen if you need yourself some comfort food from the South, but it’s nothing special. The tape also reuses some past singles including “Big Shit Poppin” and “Top Back.” Maybe they’re remastered, who knows.

Is this the pace T.I. is going to release tapes at now that he’s in jail? Hopefully he has a lot of tracks saved up if he’s going at one every two months.
