The Eagles Of Death Metal get stuck in some metal.

The first scene that most people think of when they think of Reservoir Dogs is the one where Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen) cuts off the cop’s ear with a straight razor. What most people can’t do is name the band that originally recorded the song “Stuck in the Middle with You.” It was Stealer’s Wheel. We are not, however talking about Stealer’s Wheel here.

The Eagles of Death Metal retooled “Stuck in the Middle with You,” giving it their own twangy style, but keeping the essence of the Wheel’s original. The acoustic guitars are replaced with distorted electric guitar, and the bass line is far less prominent. The vocal track also has a bit of distortion on it, almost making it somewhat muddy - but it all works pretty well; even magical, as told by the band at the very end of the song.

Go ahead and polish up your straight razor and do a little dance, but don’t mutilate any cops while you enjoy this reworked classic.

Editor’s Note: I’ve had this conversation with many people, and a true answer has never actually been achieved. Where did The Eagles of Death Metal get their name, and what does it mean? Is it just straight up “The Eagles of Death Metal,” or are they saying that they are like the band “The Eagles” (Hotel California, etc.), but only perform death metal? Neither is accurate – but interesting nevertheless.
