The British Are Coming

The Streets scrap samples, Klaxons scrap New Rave, and Nick Cave shows us all how it's done...again.

Mike Skinner of The Streets recently revealed some information on his upcoming "slice of life" Hip-Hop opus. After completing what would have been his fourth album, Skinner scrapped the whole thing opting for a more natural approach.

He explains,"It was quite well written and the rhyming was really good from a rap point of view but you were just left kind of empty so there wasn't much to really stimulate people. So I got rid of about 80 percent of the songs on the album and then started again."

Skinner hopes to be finished at the end of this month.

Roxy Music fans are in for a special treat. February 5th will see the stateside release of "The Thrill of It All: A Visual History 1972-1982, a double disc DVD collection of TV performances, videos, and live concert footage. From Glam to New Romantic, Roxy Music finally get a deserved retrospective of a colorful career.

Up and coming Glaswegian Doo-Wop Psychobilly's, Glasvegas, have a new fan. Lisa Marie Presley was so impressed by their latest single "Daddy's Gone" that she wants to record with the band in Los Angeles. The idea is just in the planning stages, so keep your fingers crossed and your blue suede shoes shined up.

Mercury Prize winning Klaxons are pondering their sonic future and getting a little help from a legend for their next album. Guitarist Simon Taylor had some boastful words to say,

"We're proud of how the first album did," added Taylor, "but it's not going to be hard to completely blow it out of the water."

Nick Cave is a very busy man these days. Scoring films(The Proposition) and cranking out critically acclaimed side- projects(Grinderman). Hard to believe He and The Bad Seeds are about to release their 14th album "Dig, Lazarus, Dig!" via Anti Records on March 3rd. Formed from the ashes of influential Goth pioneers The Birthday Party, The Bad Seeds offered the listener a transformed Nick Cave. From Punk hair-piece to psychotic preacher, albums such as "Henry's Dream" and "Murder Ballads" both excited and frightened a new generation of tainted youth. His latest single only reinforces the fact that as he gets older and wiser, Mr. Cave still disturbs and moves us, even with the mustache.
