Takin' You Back

It's a rock n' roll circus with the Rolling Stones

December 12th 1968 is the day that The Rolling Stones started filming "Rock & Roll Circus." The Who, Jethro Tull, Eric Clapton, John Lennon and many other famous musicians were featured in this documentary. This was intended to be a television special, but it never actually aired until 1996. The movie is only 65 minutes long, but that's plenty of time to get punched in the face with some blistering rock music. Interestingly enough, this was Brian Jones' last performance in the band. In honor of this legendary film, here are some choice tunes from The Stones for you to listen to.

The Rolling Stones - "Happy" - Why is it that whenever you ask someone who is familiar with music which is their favorite Stones album there is about a 75 percent chance they will say Exile on Main St.? Here's an even better question. How come most of these said individuals can only name one song off of the classic double album? I know Exile on Main St. is considered the best, but I'll take Sticky Fingers every time. Call me predictable, but I just want hits. Hits, dammit! Anyway, Happy is a great song off Exile on Main St., so enjoy.

The Rolling Stones - "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?" - You might be thinking, "Why this song, couldn't you have picked "Ruby Tuesday?" It's on the same album, man." To that I say - I'm not here just to please you, punk. It's only two and a half minutes long, so take it easy. Really I just picked this song because it was the longest title I could find. Win some, you lose some.

The Rolling Stones - "As Tears Go By" - This one's from December's Children (and Everybody's), which is my favorite early Stones album. Aftermath was probably a better album, but I find December's Children to be more fun. If you've read this much you probably already know everything there is to know about The Rolling Stones. If not, go read a book.
