It was inevitable, like God stomping the universal fuzz box. My Bloody Valentine will be releasing a new album some time next year, according to an upcoming posting on the Vice Records site. After the 1995 split of MBV, Kevin Shields and Bilinda Butcher continued making "most of an album." Shields said, "The new album is going to be this 96/97 half-finished record finished, and then a compilation of stuff we did before that in 1993-94, and a little bit of new stuff. "I pretty much know what the one that's going to come out this year is going to sound like because it's already pretty much three-quarters done already...it sounds like what we sounded like -- different but not radically different. People will go, "Yeah, it sounds like My Bloody Valentine." Point those peepers at your Chucks. Ready, aim, gaze!

In related news, the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival held at Empire Polo Field in Indio, is set for April 25-27. MBV are rumored to show.

Strange looking 60's female throwback, Amy Winehouse, was shocked to discover her home being raided this past week. She and husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, we're not home at the time when police smashed in her front door with a battering ram. Fielder-Civil was later arrested in East London on charges of attempting to fix the outcome of a trial. The said trial involves Fielder-Civil and an accomplice bribing a bartender of whom they caused GBH.

Sensitive man-rockers, Doves, are recording their latest album at "a little farmhouse barn" in Cheshire, England. The new project will be the follow-up to the 2005 Some Cities, which debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. album chart. The group recorded several songs with producer John Leckie, who has since moved on to work on African artist Baaba Maal's new album. Dan Austin, who has worked with Massive Attack, replaced him. "We immediately clicked," guitarist Jez Williams writes on the band's blog. "As a result the recording is very intuitive. So, the mood is really positive and upbeat in the Doves camp." The group will hit the road next year once the as-yet-untitled album is ready, according to Williams. "We will try and visit as many places as possible."

In America we don't take musical competition on the singles chart as serious as the Brits do. Every year bands and artists vie for the coveted "Christmas Number One." Some fine talent is in the running this year. Eddie Argos of Art Brut and sadly underrated synth-pop group, Black Box Recorder, have teamed up as The Black Arts with the single "Christmas Number One." Now, instead of being on Top Of The Pops eight weeks in a row, Eddie may have to settle for the top of the charts. Good luck from HEAVE!
