Walter Meego hit our radar.

Sometimes a girl has to dance. When Friday rolled around last week, I dolled myself - completely dressed to the nines - and headed out to a party. Hopefully followed by a night of bar hopping and dancing. My Friday night ended up forsaken me, providing me with a corner bar and a laid back party. I still had fun, but I desperately wanted to get my groove on. Saturday night was occupied so I couldn't bust a move at the Cobrasnake party (do we really need another hipster photographer in town?), but thankfully I'll be redeemed Wednesday night when British buzz band New Young Pony Club rolls into town. The best part is Chicago based Walter Meego will be playing as well. I first heard about Walter Meego a year ago, when I met the head of their then record label Brilliante Records, another Chicago based outfit.

I checked them out and found a sweet mix of danceable beats with a chill atmosphere- thanks in part to the delicate vocals of singer Justin Sconza (who also has a lovely solo project out on Brillante).

Sconza, along with Colin Yarck, are currently recording their new album that will be released on Sony; and it's always a treat to catch a band live when they aren't actually on tour. The show Wednesday night will surely consist of classic jams from them, like catchy piano driven "Romantic," but they will almost certainly throw out some new tracks.

If you can't wait till Wednesday, check out a highly Rapture and Daft Punk influenced demo track from the new album on their Myspace called "What I Want." The track makes me giddy with the promise of a great record to follow from the duo. They also have a free mix tape on their Myspace for you to download. Free, I tell you! None of that stealing music crap; they’re actually giving you their blessing to download it. So jam out courtesy of Walter Meego; and feel a little less guilty about screwing over the record industry.

So where will you be in Chicago on Wednesday? Here, I'll give you the full answer: At Subterranean, 9:30 PM seeing Walter Meego and then hanging around to dance your butt off to New Young Pony Club. It's an 18+ show, and it's only $12 bucks. Sounds like much more fun than staying home and watching re-runs of "I Love New York 2" on Vh1. See you all on the dance floor.
