Business Casual Superstar
The only thing I know about California style is what Katie Perry tells me via song.
I got a lot of great feedback on Twitter when I put together an outfit inspired by Penny's beachy, fun, California girl style. Penny, for those of you who aren't familiar, is the female lead on the CBS sitcom, The Big Bang Theory. She's a normal girl who lives across the hall from a bunch of nerds, and the results are comical.
I wasn't going to put up another Penny-outfit so soon, but I was poking around on ModCloth and found the perfect cardigan that just screamed her name, and the rest of the ensemble just kind of threw itself together.
Also, since I'm talking about California girls in this post, can we all just agree that Katy Perry's song of that same name but rather unfortunate, juvenile, misspelling, is an absolute assault of suckery. It is terrible. It sounds like a walrus being gutted, or a sexually frustrated manatee.
If you don't agree, I'm afraid we can't be friends anymore.
But back to Penny!
Here's the outfit I put together.
Dark Rinse Jeans .......... $15 Victoria's Secret Angel Tee in Bright Coral .......... $9.99 Courtly Love Cardigan .......... $29.99 Anne Klein Pump in Dark Brown .......... $39.99
I paired dark blue jeans with a soft, comfy tee from Victoria's Secret. Penny often shops there, but it's implied that she's not buying t-shirts, just scant little articles of clothing that cause her nerd-love-interest Leonard to become flustered and troubled.
The orange tee goes very well with the printed cardigan from ModCloth. Penny often wears printed cardigans, but hers are often hooded.
As for shoes, she normally wears flip-flops or sandals or Uggs, none of which are appropriate for the work place, so I picked these brown heels from Anne Klein. Better move fast, though, because quantities are limited.
And there we have a lovely, colorful look inspired by Penny from The Big Bang Theory. And the people
