Pitchfork Diaries: Bear in Heaven

Adam Wills from Bear in Heaven talks the 'Pitchfork effect' and Chicago's Lincoln Hall

Bear in Heaven is living the dream in 2010.  The band started as a solo project of John Philpot and over seven years grew into a four piece and released Best Rest Forth Mouth in 2009.  Pitchfork gave Bear in Heaven their best new music award for Best Rest Forth Mouth and ever since then it’s been a wild ride for these four guys.  We spoke to guitarist and bassist Adam Wills about the Pitchfork effect and growing into a band...

Pitchfork Diaries: WHY?

Josiah Wolf of WHY? talks collaborating, European audiences, and being a part of Anticon

WHY? had to be one of the bigger buzz bands of Pitchfork this year.  Brothers Yoni and Josiah Wolf and Doug McDiarmid have been pioneering their weird but intriguing mix of hip hop and indie rock since the early 2000s.  They are a band that’s not afraid to experiment and explore, whether it’s within their own group or through others.  We spoke to Josiah Wolf at Pitchfork about how WHY? has changed through the years...

Pitchfork Diaries: Here We Go Magic

Kristina Lieberson of Here We Go Magic takes a break from touring to talk about the band

Pitchfork Diaries: Netherfriends

Sean Rosenblatt from Netherfriends talks about touring, labels, and their new album

Out of all the bands that played Pitchfork this year, Sean Rosenblatt of Netherfriends has to be one of the hardest working ones.  Sean started Netherfriends in Chicago about three years ago and has made a habit of constantly touring to get his name out there.  Hard work, living thrifty, and making friends worked out for Sean and his band, because there they were playing the 1 pm slot on Saturday.  We sat down with Sean to talk about his many projects and being a working band...
